Almost Live, Definitely Half Assed Review of WWE Raw 22 June ’15

We get to start the show off on a high note with Brock Lesnar. At least the opening fifteen minutes will be commandeered by Paul Heyman. Lesnar has to apologize. My dream comes true when Lesnar gives Michael Cole a noggie. Heyman then sells the match up at Battleground and how much of an ass kicking Seth Rollins is going to receive. My write ups will never do his promos justice. Just go listen to it again.

Dean Ambrose and Kane kicked off the wrestling portion of our program. Nothing of much consequence happened before the break. Kane is still taking it to Ambrose when we get back. I can say that now without missing out on the second screen experience. Ambrose starts a come back. It slows when he goes for a roll up. Ambrose low bridges Kane then attacks outside. Slingshot clothesline. Ambrose sets up for Dirty Deeds when Seth Rolins shows up. Ambrose gets out of a choke slam. He hits a suicide dive on Rollins. Kane takes advantage when Ambrose goes to the top rope. Choke slam for the victory.

Seth Rollins & Kane talk. Rollins talks about getting the band back together. He’s “not afraid” of Lesnar. Kane doesn’t take the hand shake. We get recap of the Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt feud. The Prime Time Players to come out to cap the weekly early recap segment.

Titus O’Neil getting a push because he’s Mega Dad of the Year 2015. The Ascension is taking on PTP. Conor starts out against O’Neil. Victor gets the rag doll treatment. Titus ends up doing some selling. Darren gets a hot tag. Good team to let him shine against. Nice Northern Lights suplex. Young wins with the Gut Check gut buster.

Sheamus and Roman Reigns continue to keep bodies in the ring without much talk. Reigns is the one taking the beating at the time of break. Reigns starts the come back. Reigns’s action when he gets fired up could be refined some. Reigns gets clocked when he goes for the apron drop kick. Nice twist on the spot. Sheamus starts wearing down Reigns again. Sheamus triples up the back breaker. Sheamus works the back. Reigns fires back with fore arms. Reigns gets in a trio of moves but is still worn out from the beating. Reigns carries them outside the ring. Apron drop kick connects the second time. Reigns clotheslines Sheamus onto the announce table. Bray Wyatt shows up on the Titantron. Reigns runs to the back because he’s having a fake tea party? Was it even a reveal when the chair was empty? I mean even the WWE wouldn’t show child kidnapping, right?

Roman Reigns finds a room of his voodoo dolls. We’re all scared and talking about “mind games.” Seth Rollins talks to J&J Security. Even during his apology, he blames J&J. So naturally they walk off. He had a much better effort against Kane.

I feel like they’re introducing more people than normal before the break this week. Neville is taking on Kofi Kingston of New Day. The distractions on the outside get to Neville early. Prime Time Players come out to help Neville again. The ref tosses them then Xavier Woods & Big E. Red Arrow shortly after for the win. They are pushing that move to the moon. Good for them, as special as any aerial move in a while.

R Truth gets an inset promo as King Barrett comes to the ring. He’s King “Wassup!?!?!” Zack Ryder is his opponent. Michael Cole expressing what I was thinking, that it would be really embarrassing if he lost to Ryder. By pointing that out, it was made inevitable that Barrett made short work of him. Bull Hammer Elbow for the win. Kevin Steen doesn’t think John Cena was showing respect. He was trying to hog the spot light. Which is at least partially true.

John Cena says he was trying to show respect. Owens is a great wrestler but a garbage human being. He wonders what he should do about the opportunity. If he says no, he’s still the champ and they go their own ways. He’s going to fight. Kevin Steen comes out and tries to blame everything on being French. Cena then starts using different languages to prove to Owens that it doesn’t matter what language Owens uses, because he is just an ass. Seth Rollins wants the family to be back together as he talks with Stephanie & HHH. Trips believes he can get the job done against Brock.  HHH tells him he should be scared. He tells him to have a Plan B. He tells Rollins to actually be sorry. Interesting angle but doesn’t it really hurt their evil credibility?

Alicia Fox comes to the ring with the Bellas. They are taking on Naomi & Tamina. Now they’re trying to make Naomi & Tamina faces. What a mess this division is. Naomi pulls Nikki off the apron to continue beating on Brie. Nikki gets the hot tag? With the crowd sort of behind her? I’m beyond confused now. Nikki ends up capitalizing on a mix up between Naomi & Tamina. Rack Attack for the win. Why are the heels in the story line winning on a heel error by the other team. This story line is an infinite loop of weird logic.

Mark Henry gets to show off his power to Ryback as Big Show cheers him on from the head set. Break. Ryback spine busters Henry. Big Show gets up to cheer on Henry. Ryback takes advantage of the distraction with a Meat Hook clothesline. Ryback hits a splash off the top rope for a win. Show yells at Henry after the match. Jojo gets a rare back stage interview with Ryback. He talks about his parents coming back together to watch him defend the belt. Yuck. Big Show comes back to call him a little man. Ryback ends up attacking first and leaves Show laying.

Adam Rose still has Rosa Mendes by his side. Dolph Ziggler doesn’t get what true love. Lana & Dolph shouldn’t be jelly of them. Ziggler bristles at the Rose dawdling getting undressed. Rusev is backstage looking unkept still. I have no idea why Rose is getting so much offense. Rose even gets to take advantage of a charging Ziggler with a spine buster. Ziggler super kicks him coming off the top rope out of the blue moments later for the win. Lana finally looks to be enjoying herself. They kiss in the ring again. Rusev injures himself in anger. Summer Rae comes in and offers him a crutch. Jamie Noble destroys me thinking of himself and Joey Mercury as Yoda. HHH tells them they don’t know about the pressure of defending the WWE Title. They just want the guys to hear out Seth Rollins.

Seth Rollins tells Kane and J&J Security that they are his foundation. It’s a family thing, it’s clearly not about Brock Lesnar. It appeared as if Kane and J&J had left him after Brock Lesnar showed up. They end up attacking Lesnar but he shrugs them off quickly. Rollins gets hit with three German Suplexes. Lesnar goes for the F5 but Kane stops him. Kane gets in a choke slam. Lesnar doesn’t stay down long. Rollins and Kane end up getting on the same page to over take him. – Kevin
