Pro Wrestling Ohio – 13 July 2008

I noticed in reviewing my intial post about Pro Wrestling Ohio that the free site for the Pro Wrestling Torch didn’t have “The Road to Wrestlelution – Part II” posted so I will go ahead and post it in here to keep things up to date for the new episode airing this weekend.

Pedro DeLucca, the ring announcer, introduced “V Squared”, Virus & Virus Grande. Hobo Joe and Bobby Beverly were their opponents. Beverly and Virus started the match. Joe Dombrowski, the play by play man, mentioned that “V Squared” accepted the ladder match challenge of Jake Crist & Vincent Nothing for Wrestlelution. He also said there was a ten man, elimination match that will pit “Team Hobo Joe” versus “Team Clash”. The match started slowly with some simple holds. Hobo Joe got tagged in and uped the tempo. Joe’s momentum stopped when Virus Grande kneed him running the ropes. Hobo Joe got beat down. The crowd chanted for Joe a majority of the match. Beverly got the hot tag. Beverly set up Virus Grande for a Hart Attack but Hobo Joe got low bridged. After a back breaker from Virus and a brain buster from Virus Grande, Beverly was pinned for the three count. “V Squared” attacked Hobo Joe with a ladder after the match. “The Clash” ripped on Hobo Joe and Bobby Beverly and told them they would lose at Wrestlelution from the entrance ramp. Beverly announced that Zach Gowen would be one of their teammates.

Three-Day Weekend: Reaction to Summerslam, Raw, ECW

"Derrr, I'm not bleeding, derrr."

Some joker on some message board last Thursday posed the question, “Whose world title reign has been booked better: Samoa Joe’s or CM Punk’s?” I chose to refrain from answering that query until after Summerslam, where Punk would have his first PPV title defense against JBL, a former world champion, a McMahon favorite, and a known bully. Punk won. Knowing the episode of Monday Night Raw following Summerslam would be held in Punk’s hometown, Chicago, and knowing how squirrely WWE is about putting wrestlers over in their hometowns, I decided it might be best to wait until after Raw. But since ECW airs on Tuesday, compounded with the fact that the Mark Henry vs. Matt Hardy match at Summerslam for the ECW (not world) Championship was such a damn farce, I chose to wait until after ECW to see if WWE cleaned up that hot mess before I went all out with my analysis. So, after all that babbling, here are my opinions of the last three days in WWE, point by point.

Undertaker vs. Edge (Hell in a Cell): These two are fighting with Shawn Michaels vs. Chris Jericho for the feud of the year, and this match gave Taker and Edge the, um, edge. Sorry there was no blood, nerds, but I personally didn’t even think of it until I got on the Internet after my two-hour drive home. So blood obviously wasn’t that important. The match was dramatic, the emotions were palpable, and the twist of Taker resorting to using Edge’s moves (that is, after Edge tried to use Old School) to win the match was awesome. This should probably be the blowoff. I don’t care. I want more.

Covering Pro Wrestling Ohio

I started covering Pro Wrestling Ohio for the Pro Wrestling Torch a couple of months back with the latest installment stopping an one episode before the big Wrestlelution show August 3rd. I want to put up the last step before Wrestleltion on Stunt Granny before the new episodes start airing this Sunday, the 24th of August, on Sports Time Ohio. I will soon be ordering Wrestlelution and will review it when I get adequate time. I will be posting my thoughts on the show which airs every other week. Now, on to the review of “The Road To Wrestlelution – Part IIi” which aired the 20th of July, 2008.

Trainwreck TV Coming Soon to Hillbilly Channel

RealityTVWorld.com has the breakdown of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff’s new celebrity reality program coming this fall on Country Music Television. They even give the rundown of the official cast and wow, this is going to be one scintillating television expe…………zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling’s cast consists of former child actor and Breaking Bonaduce star Danny Bonaduce; former NBA star and Celebrity Mole: Yucatan champ Dennis Rodman; former Saved by the Bell actor Celebrity Fit Club participant Dustin “Screech” Diamond; former Diff’rent Strokes actor Todd Bridges; super-heavyweight boxer ButterBean; former The Real World: Las Vegas roommate Trishelle Cannatella; ex-Bewitched actress Erin Murphy; singer and actor Frank Stallone; 1980s pop star Tiffany; and Playboy playmate Nikki Ziering.

Were there no other semi-legit celebrities that could have taken part on this showe. Look at that list of absolute garbage. Was the Snapple Lady busy? What about Bronson Pinchot? There isn’t a compelling figure on the entire show and that includes the put upon act by Screech. At least the show is only an hour and with commercials we will only see 40 minutes of actual program. If it were any more there would be some sort of space continuum void opening in the farthest reaches of the Zenith Nebula waiting to swallow our horrible, horrible existence. -Jeremy
