PWO – Season 4 – Episode 20

PWO is coming into the final stretch for Wrestlelution. How was the show? Click on the Read More button to find out.

Joe Dombrowski & Aaron Maguire introduce the show. Johnny Gargano versus Krimson is the main event tonight. Bobby Beverly starts the wrestling off against Ben Fruith. Dombrowski called this a tune up match for Wrestlelution. (I call it a squash match.)  Beverly punks out Fruith a couple of times.  Fruith slaps Beverly then goes for the Fruith roll up. Beverly gives Fruith a Lionsault wrapped around the ropes. Beverly takes his time slamming Fruith’s head into the ring apron. Fisherman’s suplex only gets two because Beverly just stands on Fruith’s chest. A back elbow sends Fruith to the outside. Fruith got thrown back into the ring. Beverly  showed off to the crowd. Fruith shoulder blocks Beverly off the apron then gave him a sling shot cross body (That looked awful.) Fruith got a two count. Fruith with a German Suplex then a running knee to the chest. A Stunner by Beverly turns things around. Beverly nails him with an enziguri. Beverly pulls up Fruith from a pin then gives him the Super Kick for the win. Bobby Shields came out and gloated to Fruith. While Dombrowski & Maguire were doing a run down at the desk, Matt Cross walks into the back ground.

Analysis: Fruith got in more offense than I expected and it wasn’t executed as well as it could have been. I think it is lack of strength more than technique. He needs to add some muscle. His offense helps the match look like it was a solid win instead of a squash. Score: 0.

Flip Kendrick is doing clock sounds. Louis Lynden says the clock is counting down to the biggest event of their careers. Lynden says that they have been training harder than they ever have before. Kendrick finishes by saying they’re going to “Take the belts for real, son.” Analysis: Good little promo. They’re working better on the mic as a team. Score: +1.

Bobby Shields came to the ring to take on “Omega” Aaron Draven. (I’m looking forward to this one.) Arm drag and reversals by both men start the match. Double leap frog then a drop kick by Draven. Shields hung Draven on the top drop. Shields dropped a pair of knees. After a running knee to the face, Shields dropped him across the second rope with a neck breaker. Shields does push ups while head scissoring Draven. (Nice.) STO takes down by Shields. Draven spins away from a fist drop. Draven gives Shields a spring board cutter. Draven with a head scissors take over. Shields gave Draven a Falcon Arrow. Draven slipped out of a back body drop, hooked Shields, got reversed and turned into a German Suplex pin. Shields set Draven on the top rope, Draven tossed him down. Draven with the Warrior’s Way Double Stomp for the victory.

Analysis: A great match up. Shields looked strong. Draven, who is wrestling with Kevin Nash, gets a big name victory. Score: +2.

Dombrowski & Maguire talk about the history between Matt Cross, Josh Prohibition & Johnny Gargano. A highlight show for “M Dogg 20” Matt Cross plays. He was the first PWO Champion. Amusing note from the highlights, Madison Rayne was at ring side. Cross came on after they showed a large part of the match. Cross said that was one of his biggest moments in his career. Cross said he was screwed by Prohibition eight months later. Cross told Prohibition he was a coward for turning his back on wrestling. Cross said that only led to the same problems because of Gargano. Cross said Gargano got lucky last year at Wrestlelution. Cross was told he didn’t have what it takes because he respected wrestling too much on Tough Enough. Cross said that he will eliminated that joke Gargano. He complained more about Prohibition. Cross ended by saying he’d be “Tough Enough” on August Seventh.

Analysis: I think Cross finally got the message. He’s been really good on the mic in his two appearances. His in ring work has been a no brainer for along time. I still think he’d be too short for the WWE in general. I loved the promo. Score: +1.

Vic Travagliante interviewed Ben Fruith. He said he worked hard to get the trophy but didn’t know what to say. Fruith complimented Gregory Iron, hobo Joe & Greg “The Hammer” Valentine. He had a few words for Bobby Shields. Fruith challenged Shields to a match for the WrestleRama Trophy at Wrestlelution 4. Analysis: Solid promo. He’s moving in the right direction. Score: 0.

Vic did the Wrestlelution 4: Overdrive command center segment. Benjamin Boone & “Amazing” N8 Mattson who said the other teams don’t belong. Mattson mocks the Homeless Handicapped Connection. Boone ran down Brian Castle & Brian Bender. Boone said that Aeroform is a great tag team but thinks that it is absurd they claim to be from Michigan. They said together that they’d be the Victors, a play to Michigan’s fight song for those not familiar. Analysis: They talked up Aeroform so I wonder if they’re the ones to come away with the belts. Good promo since they have had otehr issues with the other teams so it was easier to mock them. Score: +1.

Krimson got more cheers than I expected. Johnny Gargano came out second. Gargano spit in Krimson’s face. They exchanged some basic moves then Gargano strung together a thrust kick to the stomach, a stomp to the back, a clothesline in the corner, a kick to the face & a jumping neck breaker. (I had to rewind to put that all together.) Krimson caught Gargano with a clothesline out of the blue. (That was too soon after all of that offense.) Krimson strangled Gargano on the middle rope then kicked him off of them. Krimson hung Gargano on the top rope then kicked Gargano in the back so that he shot off the rope. Gargano chopped Krimson then gave him a pair of kicks and finished with an enziguri. (Another awfully quick turn around.) Gargano nailed Krismon with a suiceide then senton dives on the outside. Krimson wanted to suplex Gargano on the outside but he slipped out of it. Gargano ended up suplexing Krimson on the outside. Sling shot spear by Gargano on a charging Krimson. Dombrowski harped on the fact that Krimson has not lost in PWO. Krimson gave Gargano a suplex from the top rope. (Think of it as something close to a Muscle Buster.) They both reversed each other’s finishers. Gargano kicked Krimson then super kciked him on his knees. Gargano only got a two count. Matt Cross came to ring side. The masked man also came down which distracted Gargano more. Witch’s Wheel by Krimson gets him the victory. Krimson staggered to the back. While Cross stared at Gargano, Josh Prohibition & “Big Rig” Brodie Lee came to the ring. Cross clocked Gargano when he turned around. Lee & Prohibition just nodded from the ramp when my DVR cuts out.

Analysis: Good match up until that pont. I made fun of the quick turn overs, which were bad, but they are both good in the ring. The ending makes sense so that Gargano doesn’t lose clean but Krimson can brag about the victory because no one truly interferred. Score: +1.

Final Score: 5/6. Final Analysis: What a show. Two really well wrestled matches with Shields vs. Draven and Gargano vs. Krimson. Fruith is moving in the right direction but still has a ways to go. This spark is the first one I’ve seen from him though so I’ll take it. Matt Cross finally showing fire and personality is great. Of course, if he keeps doing it I won’t be seeing him on PWO TV for very long. Even though I didn’t enjoy the opening match, it did a good job of elevating Fruith so that he can take on Shields at Wrestlelution and not have people think it’ll be a squash match. It isn’t quite the “Go Home” show but it’s good to be rolling this close to Wrestlelution 4. -Kevin
