@WWE #Smackdown Moves Days, Officially

moving-companysThere have been WWE Smackdown trucks with the new day on it and there have even been people who go entirely too far in advance on their own DVR to see when Smackdown would be moving from Friday night to Thursday. I like to wait until a company officially gives the word which is exactly what the WWE did last night. They are wisely waiting until January 15th, 2015 to do so that football is no longer a factor. The WWE also pointed out that men 18-49 are more likely to watch TV on Thursday than Friday. They made it a talking point because they’re hoping to draw more viewers but they need to consider that their product is currently PG which isn’t a rating favored by men in that age demographic.

Since Thursday night is the typical night to record OHPA, I’ll be sure to not watch Smackdown until Sunday night, much like I do now. I don’t feel a need to watch Smackdown quickly for two reasons. The first is that Smackdown is about forty five minutes long on a DVR since the rest of the show is replays of events on Raw or the previous Smackdown. Why do I want to watch that as it airs? It sucks sitting through all of those breaks during a recording. Having the comforts of home doesn’t make that forty five minutes more bearable. The second reason is that anything remotely important is either replayed on Raw or a match is wrestled again if it went well on Smackdown. So what incentive do I have to watch it Thursday again? – Kevin
