WWE Network Soon To Be A Reality

When I reported on this back in August 2009 (http://stuntgranny.wordpress.com/2009/08/25/vince-wants-his-own-cable-network/) I was skeptical at how this was going to work. Quite frankly, I still kind of am. I know how hard it is to get the numbers right and get the network available to the largest amount of people. Wrestling is going to be a hard sell anyway, because of the negative stigma attached to it. So I’ll be curious to see how this all goes down.

However! According to Multichannel News (http://www.multichannel.com/article/448952-McMahon_WWE_Network_Expected_To_Launch_in_Mid_2011.php), we’re going to be seeing a WWE Network by the middle of 2011. Apparently, it’s going to be used to promote WWE’s established brands, Raw and Smackdown. This confuses me further, I must admit.

Raw and Smackdown are already established. The cable network will be new. Shouldn’t Raw and Smackdown be used to promote the cable network? If Vince wants to ensure that cable companies pick up on his network and give him top price for it, shouldn’t he put Raw and Smackdown *on* his network? In any event, with WWE’s extensive library, I will certainly be wearing out my DVR in no time, come mid-2011. – Dusty

I finally be able to watch Smackdown without watching it on the internet. MyNetwork is not even available in my area since the local affiliate station decided to became a 24 country music trailer park.
