Almost Live, Definitely Half Assed Review of WWE Raw

I’m quite enjoying the fact that my is deciding not to tape Raw. After noticing this same error last week, I reset Raw to record live again just in case the setting had been erased. Well, it still didn’t tape. My DVR is definitely trying to tell me something.

Lana is getting to soak up the fan chants. Rusev is taking on Fandango. Rusev gets the upper hand early. Lana stops his momentum when she plays to the crowd. Fandango got the upper hand momentarily. Rusev with the Accolade for the win.

We get a nice long montage of videos for Tough Enough. I don’t care to find out if I’m #ToughEnough. Stardust is taking on R Truth. Stardust gets a promo that says to me “Stardust is either getting a small push or being forced into another gimmick soon.” Stardust gets the win with some rubber spiders that scared R Truth. Nice of the WWE to have a match in between video packages.

John Cena is fired up and does what he can to corral a rowdy crowd. Probably his best promo in a while. It was less focused on Rusev and more focused on passion. Bret Hart answers Cena’s challenge. He gets ready to introduce someone when Heath Slater shows up and starts bitching about being taken out every time he’s answered the challenge. Bret Hart ends up clocking him when he gets in the ring. Sami Zayn gets the big introduction. Nice use of Hart there.

The match is underway when we get back. It was a hell of a match. It is pretty much what happened for John Cena when he was introduced against Kurt Angle. Cena didn’t have the crowd advantage that Zayn had but that difference is minor in the comparison. Zayn did a great job and Cena showed some true exasperation when Zayn kicked out of the first AA. Zayn got in a Blue Thunder Bomb to get a near fall of his own. A second AA got the win for Cena though which does make the comparison. Establishment guy should win in that scenario.

I can hate New Day for capitalizing on go away heat but they are doing a great job of keeping heat on themselves. Cesaro & Tyson Kidd are holding up their end of the bargain too. Natalya needs to change her look though now that they’re baby face. Tamina joined forces with Naomi to take out the Bella Twins. The WWE has still done nothing on TV to make the Bellas baby faces. Or even likeable so the feud is just weird as Naomi acts more heelish by the week.

All hail King Barrett. He’s teaming with Sheamus against Neville & Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler ended up doing the selling for the team. Neville got the hot tag. He drop kicked Sheamus on the outside while setting up the Red Arrow. That allowed Barrett to recover and catch Neville with a Bull Hammer on a spring board. King Barrett needs wins more than anything.

Roman Reigns vs Randy Orton turned into exactly what you’d expect it to with The Authority at ring side and little time on the proverbial clock. They ended up interfering before anything can be given away. Dean Ambrose makes the save so that the good guys can make the stand at the end of the show to the fleeing heels. Actually one of the better halfs of Raw I’ve seen in a while. – Kevin
