Paul Heyman To TNA?

This phone is slightly smaller than the one Paul E. Dangerously used to use in WCW.

That’s right mothertrucker, I’m going to use a question mark in every title I write from now on. What are you going to do about it. In any event, from Jason Powell at prowrestling.net:

TNA president Dixie Carter had a phone conversation with Paul Heyman within the last few weeks to discuss the idea of adding him to TNA creative process, according to multiple TNA insiders. Heyman was said to be very blunt throughout the conversation in explaining the numerous changes that he feels need to be made both creatively and from a business standpoint.

Heyman has publicly rejected the idea of working with TNA in the past. That hasn’t stopped Vince Russo and others from attempting to arrange a conversation between him and Carter. As previously noted, Russo has told friends that he would step aside into an executive producer role if the company were to hire Heyman or Jim Ross.

When asked to comment on the matter, Carter did not confirm that she had a conversation with Heyman, but did note that he is not part of the “TNA changing” news she is hyping on her Twitter page. “Neither the surprise at Slammiversary nor the Twitter I put out this morning (two separate things) have anything to do with Paul,” Carter wrote in an email to Prowrestling.net. “I am, however, a big fan of his and would one day love to work with him.”

Powell’s POV: One source stated that Carter tried to sell Heyman on the idea of being in charge of the creative process, yet she still wanted Russo, Eric Bischoff, and others involved. I would be surprised if Heyman would agree to work for the company on those terms.

No matter what happens with Heyman, it’s interesting to note that Carter has spoken with him and previously met with Ross. Even if she doesn’t strike a deal with either party, it’s good to see that she’s being proactive in reaching out to others with the intent of addressing the company’s problems.

Dixie Carter is not an intelligent human being. That’s all I can really say at this point. What’s the point of bringing in Paul Heyman (or anyone, for that matter), if they’re still going to have to answer to the same old cronies that helped put TNA in the dire situation they’re in right now in the first place? They could hire all the brilliant wrestling minds they can think of – Paul Heyman, Jim Cornette, Bill Watts, Ole Anderson, Jim Ross, Dusty Rhodes, whoever, and it’s not going to make one iota of difference as long as they are simply part of a committee including the same business as usual imbeciles they have right now. But because Dixie Carter is not an intelligent human being at all, she does not understand this.

I have a feeling Heyman would only come in to TNA if he was given complete autonomy and allowed to make the changes necessary to help start TNA back on the right track. Since I don’t suspect TNA is intelligent enough to do that, I think Heyman will continue his life TNA-free, which has to also be much better in terms of heart burn, anxiety and desire to blow one’s brains out. But I would definitely support this move if it happens. – Dusty
