Kevin’s Blog: Definitely Live & Half Assed Review of #Raw

I hope you enjoyed your weekend.

I had a great weekend, which included me getting older by a year. My younger brother & his wife came down from Youngstown and my friends along with their little ones from in town all gathered for a nice Italian dinner at Villa Nova. It was followed by a trip to Bob’s Bar that has more than two hundred types of beer to choose from. It was quite an evening for yours truly. I’d like to thank anyone who came out. Great way to spend a weekend. I hope all of you have that type of weekend soon if that hasn’t happened recently. Let’s roll.

Shawn Michaels starts the show off. I forgot he was going to be on. He calls out HHH for an explanation as to why he accepted the match against Taker. This is all a bit patronizing. Shawn’s cutesy act isn’t hacking it for me in this situation. Ah, it was a ploy to play the footage. Still not digging it. Shawn drops that he is the special referee. Cool. They’re really loading up this card. Solid segment. I see I’m at odds with the Twitter-verse on Michaels sarcasm. Oh well.

We get a US flag for the US Title match. That looked extra cheesy. Santino Marella is taking on Jack Swagger with Dolph Ziggler & Vickie Guerrero. Johnny Wooden GM coming down makes no sense. David Otunga distracts the ref. The GMs argue. We go to commercial. What a train wreck of an angle. Dolph interferes again while the GMs argue again. The crowd goes nuts for the Santino win. The first time in ages the crowd has popped involving that title. As the GMs argue for a third time, it’s probably a good time to say the angle probably isn’t a train wreck. They’re building a problem between them that’s going to lead to a Wrestlemania match. It’s just that I don’t care.

The Rock prefilmed more stuff for Raw. Of course. Cena can’t make fun of him for putting notes on his arms. The Rock is giving us a history lesson. He’s throwing Cena’s merch in the Boston Harbor. Gnome! We’re starting a revolution. If people are sick of his merch, my eyes need a serious change in prescription. The Rock is going to make it to the arena. Kelly Kelly is on third mic. Alicia Fox is in the ring. Eve Torres needs to do something different coming to the ring. The butt out, point up is not working for her new persona. Is this angle taking place of Beth Phoenix doing anything? Or Kharma? Eve with a quick win. Zack Ryder comes out and basically says nothing. I’m agreeing with Mitchell Cool. Weird.

It’s awesome that they’re pimping the line of clothing I pooped on earlier. Eve kisses Zack backstage. Don’t take the bait. John Cena has a sit down promo in an empty arena. The director loves the wide shop. Stop changing the damn camera angle. Evidently the Rock said he was waiting for a worthy opponent. Fuck you, Boston is not the city of champions pal. It will continue to be Pittsburgh. Who gives a rat’s ass about basketball. Cena wants to win in the Rock’s backyard. How did they not retake his minor stumble? It’s pre-taped. He’s doing a real good job. I can’t say the same for the director who cut around too much. Ha, I disagree with the Twitter-verse again on content. I can’t wait for commenters to skewer me.

CM Punk hits the ring. Sheamus is his partner. Daniel Bryan gets pimped by Mitchell Cool. Finally, they’re moving the announcers into the right slots. Chris Jericho gets the last entrance. It cracks me up that AJ is the only manager that is in harm’s way at ring side. I know they ran the angle but it’s still a little off. They never say it about Vickie. Commercial as the match is in first gear as always. Sheamus gets the hot tag. The momentum gets killed pretty quick. A bit surprised, I didn’t expect much selling from Sheamus. Punk & Bryan get hot tags. Punk is selling the back injury. I’d imagine he’s taking the pin. And he does to a small package. Good idea because Jericho’s out wrestling him in a subtle way. It looked weak though. The Rock‘s second history review is on Paul Revere. The guys that aren’t reacting to this promo are in my boat. The jabroni song got me to laugh. He’s going to get into Cena’s face tonight.

The Miz gets the good fortune of taking on the Big Show. I don’t like losing streak gimmicks. Cody Rhodes comes out. He gives us a video of Big Show eating at the WWE restaurant during Wrestlemania 18. Damn he looked a little bigger in the upper body. Or at least more defined. WMD in a hour.

The Rock is going to topple the tyranny of John Cena’s last ten years. I hope people bash the Rock as much as they do Cena for going to cheese town with John Han-cock. I let the Pie comment pass in the second promo because that’s been a staple of his schtick for quite some time.

So Taker gets to talk to Shawn Michaels about the ref gig. Glad he’s a go between and difference maker this year. Gives the angle a fresh take. R Truth gets an in set promo. It sucks. Kane gets to squash him. Unless Randy Orton interferes. Randy comes out after the match. Poor Truth. Orton isn’t a friend of Little Jimmy.

Cena is cutting the Rock pretty good for average at best for video segments. He shook the Rock. That’s going a little far. He certainly hasn’t been knocking them out of the park. Cena reminds them he went to the U. The crowd boos the Rock for that little matter. Cena needs the Rock because he doesn’t want to beat the second best. The Rock hits the ring. The Rock sees fear because the Rock is taking everything away from Cena. The Rock is going to make Cena his bitch. The Rock is not delivering. What is this weird run in promo thing they have going on? Cena did a run in on the Rock who got to speak after. It wasn’t needed either time. -Kevin
