Kevin’s Blog: Definitely Live & Half Assed Review of Money in the Bank

Why can't they use a nice leather briefcase?

Let’s see how this works out. I just let my dogs play in the fields near my condo so that they’d wear themselves out. So far, so good. I’m hoping to cover this whole pay-per-view live. I’ve now ordered three pay-per-views this year. Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber were for Wrestlemania build-up. CM Punk talked me into this one.

We get started with the Smackdown MITB match. Sin Cara gets to top off the high spots but Sheamus looked like a complete dummy waiting for him. Sheamus getting a solid pop for the Brough Kick on Sin Cara shortly after. First CM Punk chant of the night. Yikes, Sin Cara takes a brutal bump thru the ladder. Wow, that looks really bad. I don’t think you can fake that. Sheamus tried to save him by jumping down to the floor doing the power bomb. The old Nexus doing the smart thing and teaming up temporarily. Rhodes gets his moment to shine. Two Cross Rhodes. I’m glad Sheamus is keeping the green going strong.  Bryan looks hurt after the Road Warriors clothesline. The replay confirms it. Looked like he landed mostly on his right arm. He’s back in a hurry though. Cole is back to just plain annoying. Interesting spot launching Slater onto Kane on the outside. Nice looking 450 by Gabriel on Kane. Awesome, Bryan wins as I talk to my roommate about the US Women’s Soccer team.

I will mention that Jeremy IMed to me around 8:26 that Bryan would cash in the MITB on Punk tonight. Now that it’s trending on Twitter, he’s pissed he didn’t put the theory up himself. We get the Bellas versus Kelly Kelly & Eve, basically. Glad that a babyface Diva got some help against the Bellas. I can’t believe the breather match is this early. I guess Henry vs. Show is a breather match too. KK wins with the Fame Asser. Time to grab some food. I hope.

Why the fuck are both of the filler matches on back to back? Just a display of power by Show so far. Didn’t expect a technical clinic. Air Big Show with the shoulderblock. Nice touch since he’s taking on someone close to his size. Show kicks out of the World’s Strongest Slam. How was your 5 second push Mark? I was really wrong. Henry with a dominant win. I guess Big Show wants or needs some time to rest.

McMahon said if Punk leaves the arena with the title, Cena needs help. Still leaving the door open for him to lose but have someone cash in the MITB briefcase.

Raw MITB starts next. Booker picks Bourne so he isn’t going to win. I finally get food. Rapid start to this one. Swagger gets to look like an ass waiting for Riley to vault the ropes. Bourne with a nice safe-but-risky looking move with Air Bourne on the outside. Miz selling well, I think. Nope, he’s injured for sure. Two guys out possibly because of the MITB matches. Kofi doing a big Boom Drop. Surprised he hasn’t done that before. Truth & Swagger with a nice seesaw move. I didn’t think the first one was bad but I’m liking this one more right now. Del Rio & Swagger are the first to get out of the 7 man ladder spot. Swagger doesn’t quite pull Kofi over enough and almost kills himself. Miz makes it back down to the ring. Great sell job by him. Mysterio goes unmasked but knocks Del Rio’s ladder over. Crowd is behind him. No big surprise. I liked this match better. I’ll rewatch the PPV if I get the time.

They’re giving both of these title matches plenty of time. I don’t think anything else is slated. Christian & Orton are up first. Slow build so far in the match with Christian having the upper hand. I love how getting out of the RKO gets made a big deal out of. He barely touches you. You’re not getting out of a submission move or even a choke hold by Kane, Show or UT.Orton delivers a hell of a dropkick.Christian with a Benoit-like headbutt. A little strange. Helps make the match different. The crowd is hot after the near fall after the Killswitch. Christian misses the spear and Orton give him a dropping neckbreaker. Cool stuff. Orton is starting to use that powerslam from different angles, I guess. it’s just not after he throws someone into the ropes now. Christian spits in Orton’s face. Orton ends up kicking Christian in the crotch. Brilliant move. Orton kisses Christian’s head with the Spanish announce table’s monitor. RKO on the table which doesn’t look any different. Daniel Bryan would be a complete idiot not to cash in his briefcase. Bryan is a moron. Too bad I know I can blame it on the writers.

Punk looks like he cleaned up for the occassion. No big surprise that he gets a big reception. I dig Punk’s shirt. Almost a Canada-like crowd experience tonight. OK, you’ve milked it enough. And Cena’s music finally hits. I’m pumped. I think Punk can have a great match with Cena. Nice slow start to the match. Plenty of time. Lawler making no sense with his argument. The crowd should support him because the WWE refuses to change. Listen to your crowd and don’t piss on people doing their thing like Zack Ryder. Fuck the WWE, even if I’m giving them my money right now. Cole using the Montreal Screw Job for very good purposes. Good start so far after a missed pair of Attitude Adjustments. Crowd sounds split now. Now the announcers are trying to pretend they didn’t hear the dueling chants. Nice, Colt to get a low five from Punk. Big knee drop doesn’t get Punk the victory. Punk misses a spear but Cena can’t capitalize. Punk working over the neck. The announcers cover for the Punk botch on the twisting cross body. Cena suplexes Punk to the outside. Nice. You rarely see that. Cena takes over.Cena with an elbow drop. How weird.  Cena with a powerslam-like move but only gets two.  I hope they go another 15. The dreaded abdominal stretch. Somewhere, Eric is pissed off because of the use of this move. Double cothesline gives us a breather. Punk gets out of the five knuckle shuffle. He then double kneed Cena to the outside. Punk hits a suicide dive. Punk misses the springboard clothesline. Cena goes back to the Shuffle.  AA attempt, Punk flips out. Cena kicks out at two after a barrage of kicks. Punk with a pair of high knees after a second AA attempt. Punk going for the springboard clothesline and connects. Man, Cena looked like he really ate that knee. Cena locks in the STF. Crowd goes bananas when he grabs the rope. Why am I getting the feeling that McMahon is going to show up during the match? Cena rolls thru a crossbody, Punk reverses into a GTS and Cena locks in the STF. Punk almost reached the ropes but Cena pulls him to the middle. Punk reverses into an Anaconda Vice. Cena gives him the AA but Punk kicks out. Cena heads to the top rope. Punk moves out of the way and Cena lands on his back. Punk gets two. GTS attempt gets reversed into a neck hang off the top rope. Cena gets the top rope leg drop but Punk kicks out again. Cena getting ready for another AA. Cena delivers another one and Punk kicks out. The crowd is electric. Cena puts Punk on the top rope. Cena going for a middle rope AA. Punk elbows out. Punk with a huracanrana. Punk with another knee in the corner. GTS but Cena bounces to the outside. I was right. Vince shows up. Punk staring them down. Punk locks in the GTS. Laurinitis calls for the bell but Cena decks him. TS again. Punks wins. Punks wins! Vince calls for Del Rio to come out. Punk roundhouse kicks him in the head. Punk runs thru the crowd. They just made me a fan. What an awesome moment.

May have to get this replay from what I am reading. Flights are awfully expensive to Cleveland so I’ll keep you posted on that.
