Kevin’s Blog: Almost Live, Definitely Half Assed Review of @WWE #Raw

I was supposed to have a review up of Wrestlelution for PRIME Wrestling. I have my explanation for it’s tardiness and at least half of the review typed up. Unfortunately, it’s not clogging up my DVR like Raw. So this article is going up first. Let’s roll.

I didn’t even have time at the office today to read the results from Summerslam. So Brock made HHH to tap? Nice of Paul Heyman to give us this info. I still don’t understand why Brock isn’t using the mic more. I might have missed why they were paging Scott Armstrong. Oh, it’s to make sure the rules were followed. Good job, nice baby swerve. The Brockdagon. Hilarious. They have done a good job of, for lack of a better term, rebuilding Lesnar. Even my woman knows after watching three months of wrestling that HHH is retired already any way.

OK, so CM Punk won two matches at Summerslam? Boy, I should really read that review. For some reason, R Truth & Kofi Kingston give out dolls for some reason. Why weren’t they giving out their own dolls? Sin Cara is their partner. They are taking on the Pupu Platter of Cody Rhodes & the Prime Time Players. Mitchell Cool had to be told a bark wasn’t for the Florida Gators. What a dumb ass. I’ve heard of barking spiders but that’s about farting. If he’d ever watched a football game, he’d have seen the Gator chomp. Commercial break.

I’m not digging Kofi going with the Superman colors. He is matching R Truth at least. At least Lawler made fun of Cool a bit for calling it the Q bark. Cody is dumb again. The mask costs him a third match. The match was the usual six man tag. I hope the Players can get a win if they’re going to keep them in the title hunt. Matt Striker reminds us that he’s still a douche. I forgot that David Otunga was in that train wreck of a movie with Halle Berry. He looks really odd without a goat. AJ gives him a match. Punk gets to approve his next opponent with her approval. It has potential.

@PRIMEWrestling – Season 5 – Episode 19

Joe Dombrowski & Aaron Maguire introduce the show. Jimmy Jacobs will be defending the PRIME Wrestling Title against Louis Lynden. Mr. RBI is taking on Jason Bane. Sex Appeal, Bobby Beverly & Bobby Shields, are taking on Corey Winters & Ben Fruith to kick off the show. Corey Winters starts out against Bobby Shields. Sex Appeal took control early. Beverly was acting weird because he kept getting orders from Shields. Winters backed Beverly into his corner and tagged in Fruith. They double team Beverly with a flying knee. Sex Appeal took back over with Shields shouting more orders to Beverly. Fruith flipped out of a back suplex and tagged in Winters. Beverly was on the receiving end of a Cutter. Shields blind tagged in. Shields gave Fruith a Body Bomb for the victory. Shields ordered Beverly out of the ring to grab scissors. They cut off the bangs for Fruith. Winters chased them out of the ring with a chair.

Analysis: They told a solid story with Sex Appeal. Fruith looks like he’s put on a few pounds which isn’t a bad thing. The wrestling was fine but I always find it odd when tags are made as frequently as they were in this match. It doesn’t give anyone much rest time on the apron which is the purpose of tagging out. Score: +1.

They showed a replay of Michael “The Bomber” Facade winning the TV Title last week. He then gets a crack at the mic. Facade talks about taking a long time to accomplish his goals in PRIME Wrestling. He said he’ll be a people’s champion. Facade wants to stand up for everyone being bullied on the roster. Louis Lynden said that he’ll be entering his prime when he takes on Jimmy Jacobs. Analysis: Facade’s promo was average. Lynden was the main talker when Flip Kendrick was around. He seemed a little lost. Score: 0.

Bryan Castle introduces Dan Arkham, who is wearing a Batman shirt. Castle calls him “BatDan” and gives Arkham his lucky head band to make him more brave. Castle wants a ride in the Batmobile. Then asks to wear the utility belt. Brian Bender comes in and tells Castle to listen and Arkham to hold the mic between them. Bender is offended that Castle chose Arkham as a hero. Arkham looks sort of offended. Bender tells Castle he’s wasted his time because Castle sucks as a student. Bender ends by saying he may have to beat the lessons into him one day. Analysis: Castle was pretty funny. Arkham played his part well especially when acting offended. It was more of a look of “How could he say this to my face” than actual offense. Bender was awesome since his instructions have been ignored. Score: +1.

Kevin Nash shoot interview features stories from the WWF in (hold your nose) 1995

We at Stunt Granny don’t like to promote things we aren’t going to make money on (which is why we don’t promote anything, including Hold For Swank, whose albums are available on iTunes). What we like to do is be entertained by pro wrestlers and then share that entertainment with you. I ran across a trailer, posted on July 9, for the Kayfabe Commentaries “Timeline: The History of WWE: 1995: Kevin Nash” DVD (not sure how many colons really belong there) and laughed out loud enough that I thought I’d better post it. Nash is a Stunt Granny favorite (Kevin and Dan met him at PWO’s Wrestlelution last year, plus he’s just a funny guy), so if you’re as into inside wrestling stories, quick humor and the word “fuck” as we are, check out the trailer and consider buying the DVD.

More PRIME Wrestling Defections To The WWE?

There are a number of noticeable indy wrestlers that have signed with the WWE, but I will leave those posts to someone else. According to Gerweck.net (we do source our info from other sites, sometimes) Johnny Gargano from Pro Wrestling Ohio/PRIME Wrestling  along with Dragon Gate USA & Evolve has signed with the WWE and will be heading to FCW in the near future. Good for him. Gargano was one of the better wrestlers when the promotion started about five years ago. He has worked hard on his promo to make them go from childish to a man cutting a promo which has been his biggest development.

If you read the link, there’s some other news that pertains just to PRIME Wrestling, while I knew some of the information because of my sources inside of the organization, some of the information was never passed along. It is a bit shocking to find out the owner of the company, Walt Klasinski, got convicted of sexual assault related charges. The legal trouble led to Joe Dombrowski purchasing the company and re-branding it. Klasinski’s actions don’t change my thoughts on the promotion because he was never booking for it to my knowledge and none of the wrestlers were convicted either. I think it’s a fine, paint by the numbers booking style that helps get the wrestlers over.

To get back to Gargano, one of the better parts of the transition from Pro Wrestling Ohio to PRIME Wrestling was the carry over of the story lines. Gargano came back on an episode I haven’t watched yet but he is set to take on Jimmy Jacobs for the PRIME Wrestling Title at Wrestlelution 5. His possible move to the WWE would put a giant crimp in their big event.

Like any good indy promotion, PWO/PRIME talent has been ransacked just as they start to move to the next level. Zema Ion (Shiima Xion) is now the X Division Champion in TNA. He was recently joined by Flip Cassanova (aka Flip Kendrick) in the X Division Title hunt taking each other on at Destination X this past Sunday. The WWE signed “Big Rig” Brodie Lee in March not long after he worked with Kevin Nash at Wrestlelution 4. The WWE also signed Derek Bateman in PWO’s infancy when he went by the name Michael Hutter. Gargano will have some familar faces around him, but only time will tell if he can become the Whole She Bang and the Cat’s Meow in the WWE. -Kevin

Dan & Kevin are back again talking about the debut of Matt Mason against a returning Brian Bender. Since Kevin already has his opinion in his review, he asks Dan about his perspective on the match. They move on to talking about Matt Cross but has Cross moved on? Jimmy Jacobs has moved in to PRIME Wrestling, but is he a big enough name to center the promotion around? Will a returning Johnny Gargano help the story line out? Jacobs is also involved with the perceived splitting of Sex Appeal. Is Nicki Valentino getting kicked to the curb because of a returning Bobby Shields? Who do the guys thinks matches up better about an on the outs Bobby Beverly? PWO – Season 5 – Episode 13

Joe Dombrowski and Aaron Maguire introduce the show. Matt Cross defends the PWO Title against Bobby Beverly. “The Megastar” Marion Fontaine takes on Corey Winters. Bobby Shields with Nicki Valentino kicks the show off against Bryan Castle who didn’t have Brian Bender. The ref did the old school pat down. Shields starts with punches. Castle hip tossed Shields three times. Castle slammed him. Castle waved at Valentino. Shields attacked him from behind on the floor. Shields missed a chop and hit the post. Castle started to attack the hand. Valentino held Castle’s leg so that Shields could attack again. Shields kneed Castle in the gut. Shields choked him. Shields missed a splash. Castle put on the head band and clotheslined Shields. Castle drop kicked him. Shields got splashed. Castle low clotheslined him. Valentino distracted the ref. Shields kicked Castle in the face. He only got a two count. Shields got tossed over the rope and noggin knocked with Valentino. Castle tried to suplex Shields back into the ring but Valentino grabbed his leg. Shields countered into a splash and Valentino held the legs for the three count.

Analysis: Really good match up. Well wrestled and well executed. It protects Castle but Shields gets the win. Well done sirs. Score: +1.

Krimson tells Jason Bane that Wrestlelution was not going to be their last meeting. He says he’s been in a no DQ match with Bane and he knows what’s coming. Krimson said he learned from his mistakes and will not repeat them. Krimson tells Matt Mason to walk away before he drowns in a sea of misery and despair. Analysis: I’m just digging this dude right now. Really thoughtful evil promos. Score: +1.

Jason Bane states the stipulations in the match. He says that if he needs to become a monster to beat Krimson and will do it. Bane promises to become the most brutal of them all. Analysis: It’s a tough spot. I thought it got the point across but he followed Krimson so it feels worse than it should. He’s just not that great at mic work but Bane has improved. Score: +1.

Matt Mason said that he can’t get a response from him. Mason said that he’s going to get a hold of Krimson. Mason is calling him out on his sickness. Mason said he’s tired of Krimson trying to crush other people’s dream. Mason said that if Krimson can’t stop his own sickness, he will. Analysis: He could have used a little more pep to really nail this thing but he needs to pivot to more than an observer at this point. This promo seemed pointed that way. Score: +1.

Marion Fontaine came out first. Corey Winters tried to hype up the crowd. (They need the last venue back.) Fontaine primps to the crowd. They tied up in the corner. Fontaine broke clean. Winters backed Fontaine into the corner. He broke clean too. Winters arm dragged Fontaine and held him down with an arm bar. Dombrowski zinged Maguire. Fontaine kneed Winters. Corey yanked on Fontaine’s arm. Fontaine flipped out of the arm bar but bragged so Winters yanked on his arm multiple times. Winters flipped him onto his back. Fontaine didn’t get enough air for a leap frog. Fontaine drop kicked Winters. They redid the spot. Fontaine went for a monkey flip but Winters pulled his legs backwards and Irish whipped him. Winters super arm dragged him out of the ring. Winters nailed a cross body to the floor. Fontaine rammed Winters into the guard rail. Fontaine tossed him back into the ring. Fontaine yapped to the crowd from the apron. Winters grabbed the injured left arm but Fontaine jumped backwards. Fontaine started to work over Winters left arm. Fontaine punched him. Fontaine chin locked Winters. Winters fought out. Fontaine basement drop kicked Winters. Fontaine kicked Winters to the mat. He over shot a moonsault as noted by Dombrowski.  Winters punched him. Winters nailed an enziguri. Winters hit a Cutter. He only got a two count. Fontaine kicked Winters in the face charging into a corner. He followed it up with a super kick. Fontaine missed a spring board. Winters hit a stomach buster. He went for Sliced Bread #2 but Fontaine ducked under and held the tights for the three count. Justin LaBar orders the match restarted because of said held tights. Winters rolls up Fontaine while holding the tights which he should have seen but Dombrowski said he had turned around. Fontaine assaulted Winters after the match. Fontaine yelled at LaBar. Fontaine says he wants the tapes.

Stunt Granny #PWOWrestling Audio Show 2

Dan & Kevin are back for another show all about Pro Wrestling Ohio. They cover episodes ten and eleven in an effort to stay current with the product. They start at the end of episode ten because Kevin can’t resist a segue that Dan put on a tee for him. How did Marion Fontaine and Matt Cross do in the ring? Was it overshadowed by the angle with Justin LaBar at the end of the match? “Omega” is also the end but did he do Benjamin Boone any good in their match? Dan & Kevin move on to the appearance of women in a ring for the first time since Wrestlelution? Was it worth the wait? Did one of your hosts realize his expectations have been raised significantly by PWO? Did Matt Mason meet those lofty goals? Dan & Kevin move on to episode eleven and actually go in the order the show ran. How good was the match between Johnny Gargano and Bobby Beverly? Did the guys think of a new specialty shop after the masked man showed up again? Dan gets to talk about his favorite wrestling authorities as “The Megastar” puts LaBar over a barrel. Krimson stole the show in Kevin’s opinion but did Dan agree? Did someone else on the Stunt Granny staff tip off Kevin about the quality of this promo? Did quality control rear it’s ugly head again in this episode? Aaron Draven & Benjamin Boone got mic time after their bout from the previous week. Did either of them capitalize on their time? The main event ended up with multiple story lines since the Dead Wrestling Society, Jason Bane, Michael “The Bomber” Facade and Gregory Iron. Are Dan & Kevin content to sit back and relax and let this play out or do they know what’s going to happen? PWO – Season 5 – Episode 2

I posted hot twins for Episode 2 last year. I figured why not again.

Joe Dombrowski and Aaron Maguire preview the show. “The Megastar” Marion Fontaine takes on “M Dogg 20″ Matt Cross in the main event for the #1 Contendership for the PWO Title. Bobby Shields vs. “Omega” Aaron Draven and Krimson vs. Brian Bender is also on the card. The later match was first. Dombrowski informed us that Hobo Joe will be out indefinitely from the injuries last week. Krimson assaulted Bender before he could get to the ring. Krimson missed a charge on the outside. It allowed Bender to suplex Krimson on the floor. Bender tossed him into the ring. Krimson charged into the corner but got back elbowed. Krimson crotched Bender on the middle rope. Krimson fore armed Bender in the chest. Bender fought back with chops and punches. Krimson gave Bender the big boot then clothes lined him. Bender pulled Krimson off the top rope. Krimson head butted then low clothes lined Bender in the back of the head. A Witch’s Wheel got Krimson the victory. Kirst & Jason Gory came out to attack Bender. The baby face locker room empties to save Bender.

Analysis: Bender went a little too over board with his actions to me. Too deep of a knee bend when punching, attacking a little too woozy, that kind of a thing. Having Krimson get a win back after Wrestlelution over one of the bigger men in PWO was a good idea though. Krimson didn’t quite squash him but it was close. I like the locker room emptying earlier this week. So many times, another beat down happens and it just is bad logic to me. Once you know someone is going to carry out their threat, like the Dead Wrestling Society, you need to keep an eye on them and nip further assaults from happening. Score: +1.

The Sons of Michigan, Benjamin Boone & “Amazing” N8 Mattson, are going to take on Ben Fruith & Corey Winters before they take on Aeroform (Louis Lynden & Flip Kendrick) .  Mattson bragged about them dominating the tag team division. He went on to say that even though Aeroform are from Michigan, they are the only ones to truly represent Michigan. Mattson said they out smarted Aeroform at Wrestlelution and they’ll do it again in the next match. Boone said something was on his mind and it was Ben Fruith because he won’t stay out of their business. Mattson said it was going to be too easy but then reminded us that Fruith stole the Wrestlerama Trophy from him and that he owes him one. “Hail To The Victors” is officially a catch phrase for them.

Analysis: Good promo for both of them. I wish Boone got a little more to sink his teeth into for his end but I’m not sure that was his fault. Score: +1.

Corey Winters & Ben Fruith are sitting back to back with the Wrestlerama Trophy behind them. They both say that each other has been friendless for too long and high five. Fruith said that he liked winning the trophy more at Wrestlelution than he did that first time over and he acted like he didn’t know. Winters “tagged in” and answered N8 Mattson. Winters said they are wrestling for the PWO Tag Team Titles. Fruith said that they’re going to bring an end to the Sons of Michigan’s reign. Analysis: On the one hand, that promo was completely gay. On the other hand, Winters & Fruith have characters for the first time ever. So it’s a wash. Score: 0.

Bobby Shields took on “Omega” Aaron Draven. Dombrowski noted that Shields wrestled in a grueling two out of three falls match last week. A shoulder block by Shields led to him posing. Shields punch Draven in the corner. Draven kicked Shields to the outside. Shields dropped Draven over the middle rope. A Neck breaker by Shields led to more posing. A neck cravat allowed Shields to knee Draven in the face. Draven rolled up Shields but only got two. Shields had a nice looking suplex. Shields missed on a third knee dropped. Draven drop toe holded Shields into the middle rope. Shields clothes lined Draven. Another cravat/knee combo led to a running high knee by Shields. Draven turned it out with three kicks. Draven hit a pair of leaping clothes lines then an enziguri which draped Shields on the middle rope. Draven sentoned him but only got a two count. Draven spine bustered Shields. A German Suplex by Shields only got a two count. A roll thru slam from the fire man’s carry position put Shields in the corner to take the 450 splash from Draven for the victory.

Stunt Granny Audio #160

Jeremy and Kevin team up again for your audio delight. They start out by fumbling around the order they’d like to talk about the whole two topics they had on their agenda. The duo starts by talking about the first episode of the new Pro Wrestling Ohio season. Who’s fingers does Jeremy want to cut off? What sets it apart from other season premieres in wrestling? How do Jeremy and Kevin think it relates to old school wrestling and Wrestlemania? They fill everyone in on the back story so even the non-watchers can follow this discussion about booking philosophies. Who does Hobo Joe remind Jeremy of? Is Kevin as hairy as Jason Bane? How do they like the main event six man tag team match that ended the show? They eventually talk about Raw. Are the guys finally defeated in looking for that pay off for a long arc story line? What holes do they poke at HHH’s removal? We think there are some positives about Michael Cole, but does John Laurinitis bring anything to the table? How dumb is the Board of Directors? Who could the next general manager of Raw be if it’s not going to be someone from the McMahon family? Did the lay off for Miz & R Truth pay off? Is a new faction going to form? Kevin Nash Meet & Greet for PWO Wrestlelution 4: Overdrive – Dan’s Perspective

Nothing is working for me tonight. I took an hour & a half to get this terrible picture.

 Wow, not a good start to trying to make this article about the information Dan and I got from the Kevin Nash. I tried to take pictures with my phone but they continually came out dark. So I switched to my camera. The first picture was dark so I took a second picture. Just as I plugged my camera into my computer, the camera battery died so it’s being recharged as I type. I ended up getting a decent picture with too much glare. Deal with it.

I want to let everyone know that I have relinquished full creative control of this report to Kevin.  I don’t know whether he will submit this as two seperate reports or as one combined report and I confident about his ability to edit this how he sees fit.  I get long winded so Kevin should feel free to cut anything unnecessary on here. (Editor’s Note: I saw a couple of spelling mistakes but will leave this note for changes. I decided to go with two articles because this was really good and I have a bunch of other stuff. I will limit the overlap of information.)

I am submitting this report from the Delta Sky Club in the Memphis Airport which cost me $50 to join (I may try to write this off on my taxes as a professional expense!) but I made $400 in vouchers changing my flight back to Kansas City this morning.  No sacrifice is too great for the Stunt Granny Universe.
