PWO – Season 2 – Episode 21

How well did PWO build up their super card, Wrestelution 2?

How well did PWO build up their super card, Wrestelution 2?

Corey Winters took on Johnny Gargano. Joe Dombrowski & Michael Cash noted that Winters & Eric Ryan will be taking on Irish Airborne, Dave & Jake Crist, at Wrestlelution. Gargano was wearing new tights and played to the crowd during his entrance. The match started slowly with Gargano playing too much to the crowd. Gargano tossed Winters outside and then hit a sling shot cross body. Winters took over but did nothing significant until a modified DDT/arm bar take down. Winters clotheslined Gargano twice and then hit a tornado DDT for a two count. Gargano executed an enziguri then a “Roll of The Dice”. He finished off Winters with Uniquely You, a full nelson flap jack slam.

Analysis: Winters got in too much offense for my taste but it was a well wrestled match.

The Cuyahoga burning could have been used in two promos.

The Cuyahoga burning could have been used in two promos.

Marshall Gambino, with brother Mickey and agent Aaron Maguire, came to the ring for his match against “The Megastar” Marion Fontaine. Joe Dombrowski and Michael Cash noted that Fontaine should have brougth back up. Cash got booted from color by Sex Appeal, Bobby Shields, Dawn Decadence and Bobby Beverly. They said they should be getting Fontaine’s TV time because they work on their bodies. Marshall got winded doing a criss cross which allowed Fontaine to hit a second rope missile drop kick. Fontaine got in a couple of shots and Marshall slid outside. Fontaine hit a suicide dive on all three. Fontaine tried to whip Marshall into a corner but got reversed. Marshall gave Fontaine a belly to belly suplex. Marshall tossed “The Megastar” outside, distracted the referee and Mickey attacked him. Marshall missed a top rope splash. Fontaine gave a thrust kick, bulldog and second rope moonsault. Marshall hit a side slam and gave him a spinning rock bottom for the win.

Analysis: The match was barely talked about which always irritates me. The talking points were fine and helped fill in the background on “The Obsession” Caleb Connelly. Fontaine got in way too much offense. Marshall is a big guy but after seeing him in other matches, he shouldn’t have been acting winded after the criss cross.

PWO – Season 2 – Episode 19

No, it wasn't quite time for Ohio State football.

No, it wasn't quite time for Ohio State football.

Bobby Beverly, with Sex Appeal, took on “Omega” Aaron Draven, who had his ribs taped up from the beating he took from Mike Tolar a couple of weeks ago. Joe Dombrowski and Michael Cash noted that the match was to qualify for the Four Way TV Title Match at Wrestlelution 2. Draven took over Beverly several head lock take overs. Draven sentoned Beverly & Shields through the second and top rope. Beverly had Draven belly down on his own shoulders and dropped to his knees for a gut buster. Beverly continued to work on Draven’s ribs with kicks, splashes and shoulder blocks. Draven hit a reverse huracanrana. Beverly hit an overhead release throw that landed Draven on his ribs. Draven hit the Spnish Fly (Flux Capacitor) for the win.

Analysis: They PWO showed a replay while both men were down during the match which needed to be noted since they timed them poorly before then. Shields did a piss poor job of interfering in the match. The match was good with Beverly focusing on ribs but the babyface overcoming the odds for the win and the shot at the PWO TV Title.

Dombrowski had a sit down interview with Josh Prohibition who was asked to recount the beginnings of his relationship with Johnny Gargano. Prohibition talked about how he realized he wanted to give back to wrestling after many years working and start teaching a very young Gargano the basics. He continued by saying they were never a team and that Gargano was always his puppet. Prohibition said he’s the best wrestler in Pro Wrestling Ohio and will take out Gargano if he pleases.

PWO – Season 2 – Episode 18

Main Event

The Main Event has big names and the Main Event for Wrestlelution is set.

Eric Ryan, with Corey Winters, took on Marion Fontaine, who was accompanied by Hailey Hatred. Joe Dombrowski and Michael Cash noted that Ryan & Winters were upset at Hatred for taking their TV time. Fontaine was in control highlighted by a top rope clothes line. Eric Ryan baited Hatred into distracting the referee so that Winters could interfere. Ryan missed a top rope leg drop. Fontaine hit a cross body to the outside. Fontaine got distracted on the top rope which allowed Ryan to hit a fisherman’s buster. Fontaine hit a thrust kick then a second rope moonsault for the three count. Winters attacked Fontaine while he was celebrating and dumped him outside. Hatred came into the ring and attacked Ryan & Winters. Ryan got back up and attacked Hatred from behind. They double teamed her for a neck breaker.

Analysis: This story doesn’t make a whole lot of sense because Hatred hasn’t gotten much TV time unless my DVR missed an episode. The match itself was fine with Fontaine needing and getting the win since he’s involved in Wresltelution 2.

Johnny Gargano was closing up his locker when Josh Prohibition yelled at him for not attacking Jason Bane. Prohibition told Gargano to follow him and not think on his own. Prohibition said he brought him to the table and should appreciate him more. Prohibition told Gargano that he’d show him how to be a corner man.

Analysis: Prohibition has stepped up the mic work. Gargano is doing a solid job of selling his confusion.

Did Josh Prohibition fail in his PWO Heavyweight Title defense?

Did Josh Prohibition fail in his PWO Heavyweight Title defense?

Jimmy DeMarco took on “M-Dogg 20″ Matt Cross. Cross came out firing topped by a suicide dive. DeMarco took his time getting back into the ring. DeMarco applied a camel clutch. Cross executed a fire man’s carry neck breaker. Gregory Iron walked towars ringside but was restrained. It distracted DeMarco who got hit from behind by Cross. “M-Dogg 20″ then hit the shooting star press for the win.

Analysis: The match played out as expected with Iron wanting to get some revenge for DeMarco stalking him and his brother. Cross could have won without the distraction though. Cross does a nice shooting star press but no one compares to Evan Bourne.

Aaron Maguire, in a new expensive suit, was met by Hobo Joe. Maguire said he invested the money and bought Joe fifty new suits. Maguire said that after the match between Joe and Bobby Beverly, everything will be A OK and laughed manically.

Analysis: Solid promo with Joe still playing the dope. The story could take a couple of directions but I think it’s fairly obvious what will happen. Maguire is much better at being a rich agent than a bum, which makes me appreciate Joe a little more since he made a great bum.

Dawn Decadence was wearing a shirt with a +25 Sex Appeal.

Dawn Decadence was wearing a shirt with a +25 Sex Appeal.

Matt Cross came to the ring and said he wanted his rematch against Josh Prohibition right then, right there. Mike Tolar, with Ben Fruth & EJ Giorgio, told Cross he needs to stop worrying and Prohibition and start worrying about him. Tolar challenged Cross to a match and then fed him Fruth & Giorgio. Cross beat up both of them then yelled at a retreating Tolar.

Analysis: Good call by the writers for Tolar’s next opponent. Considering Tolar’s been all talk and no back up, I think he needs to pull out the win at the end of the feud. Cross is an established star and can bounce back.

We can only hope for another Ladder Match for the Heirloom swords.

We can only hope for another Ladder Match for the Heirloom swords.

Matthew Justice, with “Bloody” Morty Rackem, took on Benjamin Boone. Joe Dombrowski and Michael Cash mentioned Pirate Justice’s problems. Boone got in some early shots but Justice controlled the majority of the action. Boone threw Justice across the ring from the top rope. Boone side and regular slammed Justice. Justice hit a back cracker and then a sling shot leg drop with Boone’s neck on the second rope. Justice & Rackem argued which allowed Boone to spear Justice on a spring board attempt for the pin fall.

Analysis: The match played out as expected. Justice & Rackem need to split because they’re costing each other matches.Wouldn’t that thought just dawn on them rather than continuing to accompany each other to ring side and claim they’re friends? If some “friend” kept cock blocking me, I wouldn’t hang out with him after the second occurrence. Justice had better hope they tighten the ropes for the next taping because he looked wobbly on the spring board and sling shot moves which usually isn’t the case. Boone looked solid but wasn’t given much to do.

PWO – Season 2 – Episode 14

Hey Maguire, you're going to be sleeping with the fishes if you don't get us our money.

Hey Maguire, you're going to be sleeping with the fishes if you don't get us our money.

Kid Cupid was introduced as the guest ring announcer and he introduced Noj the “Wild Samoan” and The Savage, who was a big non-descript white guy who wore a leopard print singlet. They came to the ring with Marion Fontaine. Marshall Gambino and his brother Mickey came to the ring. They were not scheduled for the match or weren’t part of the roster accordign to Joe Dombrowski, who was flying solo again. After brawling, an official tag match started. Noj beat on Mickey. Mickey turned it around and the Gambinos started to double team Noj. The Gambinos continued to tag in and out and keep Noj isolated. The Savage got the hot tag and hit some Khali like head chops. Marshall speared him and both stayed down. Noj missed a moonsault then was hit by a top rope elbow by Mickey and a frog splash by Marshall. The referee counted Noj even though he wasn’t the legal man which Dombrowski noted.

Analysis: I find it silly when someone who shows up isn’t part of the roster but still has a match no matter what wrestling promotion does it. The Gambinos look to have serious potential. Marshall is a bit hefty but that didn’t hinder him. He just needs to get smoother in the ring. Mickey has a great build and just looks like he needs more ring time.
